There aren't many electric but they are an excellent type with only one weakness
The new thing in G/S in electrics is that Rain dance gives thunde swift like accuracy for 5 turns.
It also increases the power of water type moves so one of the fun things to do is to try to get electric
pokemon with a water type hidden power.
So when your opponent switches to a rock or ground type they're dead before they know what hit them! Of course you can also just use rain dance
without a water type hidden power but it's really nice to be able to do both. You could also use a grass or ice type hidden power to throw
your opponent off guard.
So try an electric!
Pure Electric Pokemon
Elekid
Moves bred:
Karate Chop, Barrier, Hi Jump kick, Meditate
Electabuzz
It was pretty good in R/B/Y but now it's even better mostly because it can learn ice punch and
get barrier and rolling kick through breeding. A worth pokemon for any team. in crytal it will be able to
get cross chop so it will be even better. High attack and special with low defense and good speed.
One of two electrics that can do justice to the rain dance combo without using hidden powers.
Of course you have to have stadium to get one but well worth it. Similar to electabuzz in stats.
Rain Dancer
Thunder
Surf
Rain dance
Thunderwave
This moveset is standard for any rain dancing pokemon except that surf can be replaced with hidden power.
Mareep
Moves Bred:
Thunder Bolt, Take Down, Body Slam, Safeguard, Screech, Reflect
Flaaffy
Ampharos
It's japanese name was Denryu which means electric dragon so I consider it an honorary dragon.
Unlike most electrics it is rather slow but has high special and is very powerful mostly due to it's fairly good defense and high hit points.. Well worth a spot on
your team. Breed with an electabuzz or raichu to get thunderbolt if you're not using a rain dance combo.
Jolteon
Tied with aerodactyl Krobat and mewtwo for second fastest pokemon in the game. Also in the top twenty for highest special. Fourth highest special electric.
Low defense like most of the eevee evolutions and low attack. An awesome poke. Can also be used as a Paralysis shuffler.
Voltorb
Electrode
Fastest pokemon in the game and that's it's main selling point. Pretty average special kinda low for an electric.
Mediocre stats otherwise but notable if only for it's speed. If you're using an electrod you can be sure you're going first.
Raikou
A legendary cat-A sabretooth tiger. An awesome electric due to it's legendary status and with good stats to boot but then it IS a legendary.
It's only real downfall is that it can't get thunderwave. It learns crunch and reflect though. Would be absolutely awesome with the rain dance combo but
the chances of getting a raikou with the proper DVs is pretty darn low. If you want to try just remember the first time you see raikou his DVs are set. So catching it and resetting after you've seen it won't work.
Believe mei know this from experience.
Part electric pokemon
Electric Flying
Zapdos
Zapdos is still awesome you'll have to transfer one from a R/B/Y game but it's worth it.
Probably the easiest electric to get a hidden power on since you catch it at level 50 and you can easily tell the DVs
of a pokemon that's caught wild at level 50 or above. Zapdos can also learn whirlwind and thunderwave and so is a good
paralysis shuffler. Plus it's flying type is quite useful given the number of earthquakers and fighting type pokemon running around.
Number one in special ratings of electrics.
Magnemite
Magneton
Magneton
Magneton is second only to zapdos in special attack ratings. However it's special defense is now quite low. It's now part steel which give it a lot of resistances but makes it doubly weak to ground
and weak to the now common fire types. It's defense is pretty good but it's fairly slow. Not too bad of a choice but really beware of ground and fire.
Chinchou
Lanturn
The only electric other than raichu that can rain dance/surf without a hidden power. Plus it get's a STAB on both thunder and surf.
It's stats are actually pretty bad but it has tons of hit points.
