Fighting Pokemon

Fighting pokemon really got a boost in G/S. They were give better moves better stats and they have two more type advantages. We only got three new fighting types and one of them is a pre-evolved form. Fighting types a REALLY good thing for a G/S team. Which one you pick is up to you.

Mankey
bred moves: Rock Slide, Foresight, Meditate, Counter, Reversal, Beat Up
Primape
Fast with high attack. Little defense or special but low special is typical of most fighting types. A good pokemon in that it can learn dig. Much like a fighting version of Raticate. Got a little boost in Special Defense in G/S. Learns Cross Chop at level 45.
Machop
bred moves: Light Screen, Meditate, Hi Jump kick, Encore
Machoke
Machamp
Great fighting pokemon. Second highest attack in the game plus pretty good defense and good HP. Plus it can learn earthquake. Also learns cross chop. Cross chop is probably the best fighting move with power and a high critical hit rate to boot.
Tyrogue
Bred moves:Rapid Spin, Hi Jump kick, Mach Punch, Foresight
Hitmonchan
Okay here we go it's the hitmonchan Vs. hitmonlee debate. Well Hitmonchan is a bit slower has slightly higher defense and lower attack than hitmonlee. It does learn all of those special punches like fire, ice, and thunderpunch. But like it's cousin, hitmonlee it has no special attack so those attacks typically won't do much at all. If they burn, freeze or paralyse your opponent that's about the best they can do unless the opponent is weak to the attack type and also has fairly low special. Hitmonchan learns mach punch which is a fighting move that always goes first. All three hitmons have very good special defense in G/S. They have little HP however.
Hitmonlee
One thing about hitmonlee is that it has high attack and low defense. It does the most ammount of confusion damage of any pokemon-It barely beat out flareon. Now that any hitmon can get any other's move The necessity of using hitmonlee for high jump kick is less and lee's low defense can be a real handicap given the now common flying types. None of the hitmons can get the ultra powerful cross chop. They are still excellent pokemon especially given their awesome special defense but they are probably on near equal footing with the other fighters.
Hitmontop
The new kid on the block and he's not too bad. Has even defense and attack. Great with curse and mach punch. Unlike the other hitmons it can get dig but since dig's power was reduced in G/S it's not too much of an asset.
Poliwrath
Everyone seems to forget about poliwrath. It has good defense and can learn amnesia hypnosis and psychic. Unfortunately as a fighting type all it can get is the mediocre submission attack. It also has the lowest attack of any fighting pokemon but it's not too bad and it's advantages more than make up for it. in G/S it's fighting type can be more advantageous defensively than offensively.
Heracross
It's more of a Bug than a fighter and it's type makes it doubly weak to flying types but it can use endure reversal-which is a fighting type move. Endure allows your pokemon to survive any hit with at least one HP. Reversal is based upon how much HP you have left. The less is left the more powerful the attack so If you know you're going to faint and you are faster than the opponent and you endure one turn you can use reversal the next to take down your opponent.

Max Stats

These are the maximum obtainable stats for each pokemon. Your pokemon stats will probably be lower. If you have the same as every stat then you have a max stat pokemon.
