NOTE I'm only doing descriptions of final evolutions
When asked to rate the worst type most people put down normals. But I am here to set the record straight
normals can be really great and devastating hyper beam on any normal with decent attack is a must
just think of what 1.5X on hyperbeam will do!(I'm leaving out the flying normals because I can):
NORMAL POKEMON
Rattata
Raticate
Probably few of you have bothered to evolve your rattata that you caught so early in the game into a
raticate. Raticate's have many good qualities they can learn dig, and they learn hyper fang and the
excellent super fang. Super fang takes away half of the opposing pokemon's HP no matter what! It is even
supposed to work on ghosts. Raticate's are fairly fast and have good attack and defense. Don't dismiss
raticate as a worthless pokemon.
Clefairy
Clefable
An excellent all around pokemon. Clefable, like other magical normal pokemon, can learn a wide variety of TMs
Because of this clefable is unpredictable and can punch holes in teams. Has slightly higher special than
attack and is somewhat slow but is great for the 'hole puncher' position in your team.
Jigglypuff
Wigglytuff
I didn't think that there were any completely useless fully evolved pokemon until I looked at wigglytuff.
about the only thing it has going for it is HP. Sure it can learn lots of different moves but it's stats
are so bad why waste the TM.
Meowth
Persian
Persian is one of the fastest pokemon in the game but that's about all it has going for it.
It's other stats are mediocre at best. A good persian would almost have to have double team and hyper beam.
They can also learn electric and water moves so don't overlook them completely but Tauros has MUCH
better stats.
Lickitung
The only normal pokemon to be able to use hyperdance but you'd almost have to to do much damage.
It's attach is pretty bad and it is quite slow. It's special isn't too bad. It can learn a lot of different moves
so take a look at lickitung and you may find it suits your needs
Chansey
Often touted as a useless pokemon. But those who say such things have not seen chansey's real power.
Chansey is an extreme pokemon. It has the highest hit points of any pokemon and probably the lowest
attack and defense. It's special however is very high and so if you put special based moves such as psychic on it
it can be very powerful. With it's low defense minimize is almost a must. With softboiled it can keep your entire team
alive especially when you are in caves. Putting counter on a chancey can REALLY be evil. Counter takes
whatever damage was done on the previous turn and does it to the opponent. With chansey's high HP
this is DEADLY!
Kangaskhan
Has good stats except for special. Beware of high special pokemon. Kangaskhan can learn rock slide
and so can add an interesting twist to a battle. it can also learn water and electric moves but with sunch low
special to power them it's really a waste. Kangaskhan is a great attacker just watch out for high special pokemon.
Tauros
Probably THE best normal in the game. It is one of the top 10 fastest pokemon and can leanr fire
ground, ice and electric moves. It's speed and underuse can make a devastating surprise for a novice
player. The best hole puncher out there. Don't leave home without one!
Eevee
Uh okay why am I talking about evee? has anyone ever trained an evee?
Well I haven't either and until someone comes and sings the praises of eevees I think I'll leave that
to the cartoons.
Snorlax
Slow obviously. Snorlax can learn a wide variety of TMs including rock slide and earthquake.
It's special isn't too good but amnesia can fix that. Remember amnesia can be as much a defensive move
as an offensive move. It learns hyperbeam and rest on it's own. I've heard of many a good snorlax
do try one out if you like.
