The Morrocan Rose is probably a hybrid perpetual or portland of some kind. It was found growing in Morocco hence it's name.
The bust is very resistant to disease but not to the extent of the Species and Alba roses. The flower
buds are very fat and the flowers are large and globular. It's not particularly well scented but it is fairly hardy and
is very lovely in full bloom. The photo doesn't really do it justice.
The plant is probably best pegged beacuse it's growth is otherwise straight up and the flowers are crammed against the canes.
One interesting note is that although it is once flowering. It is able to flower on basal shoots produced in the spring
as well as along overwintered canes. Perhaps only a single
mutation separates this from a repeat flowering rose.
Just watch out for the suckers.Back to the Rose varieties
